And then we’ll squeeze a Tuesday in.
Wednesday’s lunch. At roughly two
We’ll do whatever Thursdays do
Till fourish. Finally, Friday!
I love a midweek holiday.

Was declared, as the men who had led the mayhem
That had mass-produced corpses–a million scores–
Signed an armistice.

Turns out, fighting’s more fun.

Just A Thought

I’m proud of those who’ve served, and glad
This holiday for them exists,
But I’d prefer that we not add
More conflicts to their service lists.

Veterans deserve our thanks
And we should pay attention to
How things we do might swell their ranks
And maybe skip a war or two.
