A man from Nantucket existed
Whose member was Guinness book-listed
For how far away
He could stand and still play
The piano, if listeners insisted.
Month: February 2024
Leap Day
Our quadrennial
Note to Self that we’re just bugs
On a wobbly orb
Either/Or
Let’s cut to the chase: The crook
Is gonna get a second look,
Which means our freedom’s hope is ridin’
On the other guy. That’s Biden.
I Blame Strauss
Europeans like to walk
And I don’t mean around the block:
They ramble all across the land
For reasons I don’t understand
But can’t help but respect, and they
Cross lots of rivers on their way.
Should northbound hikers leave the sea
‘Tween eastern Greece and Italy
It’s almost guaranteed their trek
Will take them o’er a Danube. Heck,
They’re everywhere! From Germany
To Ukraine, there’s a River D
Three-quarter timing through the town
In which you’re wandering. Look down
From almost any bridge to find
A duck with Danube-drenched behind
Quack-paddling beneath the span
You’re standing on. I tell you, man,
There’s Danubes there in every hue!
How come I’ve only heard of blue?
Countdown To The Countdown
Ten months till Christmas, and I’ll bet
You haven’t planned your presents yet.
Best not to wait too long, you know.
A pear tree takes some time to grow.
Less Fruit Than You Might Think
Too much of two kinds of rum,
Orange liqueur and maybe some
Lime juice, on ice– Oh, I forgot
That syrup that’s pronounced or-ZHAAT,
And maybe simple syrup, too.
The ratios are up to you,
But roughly 4:2:1
Of rum:orgeat:liqueur is fun.
One lime per glass (squeezed nearly dry),
And that’s a pretty chill Mai Tai.
No Pain No Strain
If it doesn’t hurt
There’s a chance you’ve done it right
Settle for success

Sometimes I awake in bed
With last night’s novel my head
In which case I can find my place
Imprinted backward on my face.
The Elephant’s Unmentionables
The Emperor of Elephants
Paraded in his underpants
Before his herd, yet no one dared
To mention what he hadn’t bared
Until he’d left, too reticent
To break Trunk Club’s Rule 1, which went:
Don’t talk about Fruit-of-the-Loom
On elephants still in the room.

Stick-based foods are underrated
Tasty meals need not be plated
Shishkebab and skewered meats
Are highly satisfying eats
And for dessert a 50/50
Creamsicle is pretty nifty
