It isn’t all that hard to write in verse
If by a “verse” we mean a meter’d line
If rhyme’s involved, the struggle’s slightly worse
But possible e’en so (just takes more time)
The tricky part’s to make the matter worth
The reader’s effort to divine the sense
Tho’ miners move a mountain’s maw of earth
For each gold nugget, words rate less expense
A greater challenge yet may one attempt
By use of templates, paradoxic’ly;
To lift such structur’d verse above contempt
Negotiation with the form is key
A tip: Should spelling throw the meter off
Fear not! That’s why God made the apostroph’

Unnecessarie

Creative thinking’s overrated.
Innovation’s always waited
‘Til true geniuses were there
To conjure progress from the air.
Franklin’s electricity
Was patient ’til his kitely key
Retrieved it from its cloudly shelves.
Nongeeks who seek to help themselves
Deserve to fail: Derail those trains!
Polite society refrains
From thinking outside structured cubes;
A jury-rig’s for hicks and rubes.
Don’t let T. Alva Edison
Unlatch the hatch to let us in
To where he rarifies O2
His bulb’s too bright for me and you.
Convinced your noggin’s up to snuff?
You’ve shot the brainwave curl? Tough!
It’s not your lot to be that smart.
Let thinkers think and artists art
And engineers engeniufy.
The alphabet won’t miss the why.
