Syllabest

Everybody has a mother.
That’s a fact–Biology.
In how much of your life
Is she a factor? That’s Psychology.
How you came to be the way you are
Is not a mystery:
Your mother plus your dad,
Divide by two (that’s Math and History).
Her Social Studies lessons taught you
How to be a buddy and a friend;
She nurtured your artistic side
With lullabies and Let’s Pretend
And lots and lots of story time–
That’s Music, Drama, English Lit:
If you know how to make a rhyme
Your Mommy prob’ly helped with it.
Name anything at all you know
And trace it to its source, she’s there.
Or maybe that’s just me.
Since mine’s Mom #1, that’s prob’ly fair.
