A Moon In Full

The moon will have its day tonight
Its belly broad
Its platter white
And empty as an orphan’s eyes
Gaze eastward
See it silent rise
And slice the stars
And dark
Arc earthward
Forward like the shark
Awaiting its descent into
The western ocean
Cold and blue
